This hadith is a hadith Qudsi
On the authority of Anas (RA) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, "Allah the Almighty has said: ‘O Son of Adam, as long as you invoke Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O Son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and you then asked forgiveness from Me, I would forgive you. O Son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the Earth, and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it [too].’" [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/548) No. 3540; who said that it was a hasan hadeeth.]
Allah is so eager to forgive us
-every night He descends on the last 3rd of it to forgive us of our sins
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA), who said that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Our Lord (glorified and exalted be He) descends each night to the earth's sky when there remains the final third of the night, and He says: 'Who is saying a prayer to Me that I may answer it? Who is asking something of Me that I may give it him? Who is asking forgiveness of Me that I may forgive him?'" [al-Bukhari (7494) (also by Muslim (758), Malik (619), at-Tirmidhi (3498) and Abu Dawud (1315)]
Allah described us as children of Adam
-this is because we are all children of Adam (a.s)
Saeed al-Jurairi narrated Abi Naddra told me of a sermon he heard from the Messenger of Allah (SAW) in middle during the Days of Tashreeq said: “O people, your Lord is One and your father [i.e., Adam] is one. There is no superiority of the Arab over the non-Arab, or of the non-Arab over the Arab, or of the red over the black, or of the black over the red – except with regard to taqwa...” [Musnad Ahmad (5/411) No. 23536]
O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allāh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2). Verily, Allāh is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (Al-Hujurat 49:13)
On the authority of Abu Huraira the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Verily Allah does not look to your bodies nor to your faces but He looks to your hearts," and he pointed towards the heart with his fingers. [Sahih Muslim (4/1986) No. 2564]
Abu Huraira reported the Messenger of Allah (SAW) as saying: "Verily Allah does not look to your faces and your wealth but He looks to your heart and to your deeds." [Sahih Muslim (4/1987) No. 2564]
This hadeeth gives hope to the sinners
Say: "O 'Ibādī (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allāh, verily Allāh forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Az-Zumar 39:53)
-and Allah forgives all sins even shirk as long as you make taubah before you die
The story of Umar (r.a) and the man
On the authority of Sha'bee who said: 'Umar Ibn al-Khattab was on a night's journey and he saw a caravan and the night was pitch black. He told a man to call them. They were asked: "Where are you coming from?" Abdullah ibn Masood answered and said: "We are coming from fajj Ameeq - the Deep Valley referring to an ayah of the Holy Quran (Surah 22:27)." They were then asked: "And where are you going?" Ibn Masood said: "Bayt Ateeq, referring to the Quranic name for the Ka'bah 'The Ancient House'." Umar then said: "Verily there's a scholar amongst you." So Umar ordered a man to ask them: "Which part of the Quran is the greatest?" Ibn Masood replied: "He is Allah other than whom there's no god, the Ever-Living. (ayatul kursee)." Then they were asked: "Which part of the Quran is most clear in justice?" Ibn Masood replied: "Verily Allah has commanded that we do justice and be proficient in doing our duties (Surah 16:90)." Then Umar asked them: "Which part of the Quran is most profound." Ibn Masood answered: "Whosoever did an atoms weight of good shall see it then (Surah 99:7-8)." Then Umar asked them: "Which part of the Quran gives the most hope?" Ibn Masood replied: "Say O My servants who have wronged themselves by committing sins do not give up from the mercy of Allah. (Surah 39:53)." Umar then asked them: "Is Abdullah ibn Masood with you?" The people in the caravan said: "By Allah yes."' [Majmua Takhreej al-Din al-Maqdisi (pg. 7) No. 6]
-so the ayah above gives hope to the sinners even those that committed shirk
-as long as tawbah is made before death
-because shirk is paganism
-but if you die in a state of shirk, there is no hope for you
Whenever a kaafir takes his shahada, it wipes out all his previous sins
-and he gets the reward of all the good things he did while a kaafir
On the authority of Abu Jabir heard Makhul say, "A very old man with sunken eyes came and said, `O Messenger of Allah, a man betrayed others and did immoral deeds, and there was no evil deed which he did not do. If (his sins) were to be distributed among the whole of mankind, they would all be doomed. Is there any repentance for him?' 'The Messenger of Allah said: "Have you become Muslim?" He said, "As for me, I bear witness that there is no God but Allah Alone, with no partner or associate, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.'' The Prophet said: "Allah will forgive you for whatever you have done like that, and will replace your evil deeds with good merits." The man said: "O Messenger of Allah, even my betrayals and immoral actions?'' The Prophet said: "Even your betrayals and immoral actions." The man went away saying 'La ilaha illallah' and `Allahu Akbar.''' [Tafseer Ibn Abi Hatim (8/2735-2736) No. 15446, Tafseer Ibn Katheer (6/129)]
Ibn Shamasa narrated Amr ibn al-Aas said: “When Allah put the love of Islam into my heart, I came to the Prophet (SAW) to pledge my allegiance to him. He stretched out his hand towards me, but I said, ‘I will not pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah, until you forgive me my previous sins.’ The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to me, ‘O ‘Amr, do you not know that Islam wipes out whatever sins came before it.’” [Musnad Ahmad (4/205) No. 17861, Sahih Muslim (1/112) No. 121]
Allah said if you do not commit sins, you will be wiped out of creation
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger having said: “By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2106) No. 2749]
When you die on the battle field all your sins are forgiven except debt you owe
Abu Qatadah narrated : Allah’s Messenger (SAW) stood up before us and said to us, “Jihad in Allah’s cause and belief in Allah are the most excellent of deeds.’ A man stood up and said, “ Messenger of Allah! Do you say that if I am slain in Allah’s path then my sins will be expiated from me?” Allah’s Messenger said, “Yes, if you are slain in Allah’s path and you are patient, hopeful of reward, advancing and not retreating.” After that Allah’s Messenger asked, “What did you ask?” He repeated, “Do you mean that if I am slain in Allah’s path, my sin will be expiated for me?” Allah’s Messenger said, “Yes while you are patient, hopeful of reward, advancing and not retreating, but not in debt (which is not forgiven). Jibril ‘told me that.” [Muslim 1885, Tirmidhi 1718, Ahmed 22648, Nisai 3156]
Abu Huraira narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: “The one who gets married with the intention not to pay dowry to his wife is a fornicator. And the one who borrows money with the intention not to pay back is a thief.” [Ibn Hibban in ‘al-Majruheen’ (2/261) No. 941]
Suhaib al-Khair narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Any man who takes out a loan, having resolved not to pay it back, will meet Allah as a thief." [Sunan Ibn Majah (3/486) No. 2410]
All the sinners will be forgiven except
-those who announce their sins to others
-so hiding the sin makes it easy for Allah to forgive you
-but announcing it makes you not to be forgiven
Abu Hurayrah said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “All of my ummah will be forgiven except those who sin openly. It is a part of sinning openly when a man does something at night, then the following morning when Allaah has concealed his sin, he says, ‘O So and so, I did such and such last night,’ when all night his Lord has concealed him and the next morning he uncovers what Allaah had concealed.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5721; Muslim, 2990)
Sometimes a Muslim says, Allah will never forgive so and so person
-this is a Khawarij mentality
-so don’t take away from the Muslims their hope
Jundub ibn 'Abdullah reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "A man says, 'By Allah, Allah will never forgive so-and-so.' Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says, 'Who is that who swears by Me that I will not forgive so-and so? I have forgiven him and your action has come to nothing." [Muslim]
-and how do you know who Allah (swt) will forgive and who He won’t
Whenever a person commits sins, this does not make him evil
-he becomes evil and a kaafir if he legitimizes it
-because he has made haram halal
Anas (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Every son of Adam commits sin but the best of those who sin are those who repent.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/659) No. 2499, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/320) No. 4250, Sunan al-Darime (2/392) No. 2727, Musnad Ahmad (3/198) No. 13072]
There is a difference between tawbah and istigfaar
-istigfaar is when you seek repentance from MINOR sins
-taubah is when you seek repentance from MAJOR sins
If you don't classify knowledge, and do not know
-the difference between major and minor,
-you can end up becoming a Khawarij
-hence the classification of knowledge is incumbent upon the scholars who teach the deen
'Umar bin Al-Khattab (RA) reported: 'Some prisoners were brought to Messenger of Allah (SAW) amongst whom there was a woman who was running (searching for her child). When she saw a child among the captives, she took hold of it, pressed it against her belly and gave it a suck. Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Do you think this woman would ever throw her child in fire?" We said, "By Allah, she would never throw the child in fire." Thereupon Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Allah is more kind to his slave than this woman is to her child." [al-Bukhari (5999) and Muslim (2754)]
-so Allah (swt) is ALWAYS READY and prepared to forgive your sins
-Allah (swt)'s Mercy is more than His Wrath
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (SAW) as saying: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: "My mercy prevails over My wrath." [al-Bukhari (7553), Muslim (2751), Tirmidhi (3543), Ahmad (7297)]
-therefore the person who faces Allah (swt) as a mushrik on the day of judgement
-does not have hope
...O Son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and you then asked forgiveness from Me, I would forgive you. O Son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the Earth, and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it [too].’"
Verily, Allāh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allāh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (An-Nisa 4:48)
-because a mushrik has no hope in the hereafter,
-it is HARAAM for us to pray to Allah (swt) and beg Him to forgive such a person
-even though they might be our kith & kin
-after it's been made clear to us that they are the dwellers of the hellfire
It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allāh's Forgiveness for the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allāh) even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief). (At-Tawbah 9:113)
Narrated By Al-Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib: That he said to the Prophet "You have not been of any avail to your uncle (Abu Talib) (though) by Allah, he used to protect you and used to become angry on your behalf." The Prophet said, "He is in a shallow fire, and had It not been for me, he would have been in the bottom of the (Hell) Fire." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 58, Hadith #222]
Ibn 'Abbas reported: The Prophet (may peace be upon him) said: Among the inhabitants of the Fire Abu Talib would have the least suffering, and he would be wearing two shoes (of Fire) which would boil his brain. [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0413]
Verily, Allāh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allāh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (An-Nisa 4:48)
Just as the man who killed 100 people was a serial killer
-many of you are serial fornicators
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported Allah's Messenger (SAW) as saying: There was a person before you who had killed ninety-nine persons and then made an inquiry about the learned persons of the world (who could show him the way to salvation). He was directed to a monk. He came to him and told him that he had killed ninety-nine persons and asked him whether there was any scope for his repentance to be accepted. He said: No. He killed him also and thus completed one hundred. He then asked about the learned persons of the earth and he was directed to a scholar, and he told him that he had killed one hundred persons and asked him whether there was any scope for his repentance to be accepted. He said: Yes; what stands between you and the repentance? You better go to such and such land; there are people devoted to prayer and worship and you also worship along with them and do not come to the land of yours since it was an evil land (for you). So he went away and he had hardly covered half the distance when death came to him and there was a dispute between the angels of mercy and the angels of punishment. The angels of mercy said: This man has come as a penitent and remorseful to Allah and the angels of punishment said: He has done no good at all. Then there came another angel in the form of a human being in order to decide between them. He said: You measure the land to which he has drawn near. They measured it and found him nearer to the land where he intended to go (the land of piety), and so the angels of mercy took possession of it. Qatada said that Hasan told him that it was said to them that as death approached him, he crawled upon his chest (and managed) to slip in the land of mercy. [Sahih Muslim, Book 37, Hadith #6662]
THE FIVE PILLARS OF TAUBA
1. YOU STOP THE ACT
-e.g. Salman Rushdie’s taubah is fake
-because he's still selling his book, satanic verses
-and gaining sustenance from the takings of the book's sales
Anas Ibn Malik narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "A believer is shrewd, sharp and careful." [Quda'ee (d. 454 H) in 'Musnad al-Shihab' (Vol. 1 pg. 107) No. 128]
2. TO FEEL REMORSE & REGRET DOING THE ACT
-If you don't feel remorse or regret, the taubah is fake
النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ
On the authority of Abdullah Ibn Masood the Prophet (SAW) said: “Regret is repentance.” [Musnad Ahmad (1/376) No. 3568 and Sunan Ibn Majah (5/322) No. 4252]
3. YOU NEED TO APPROACH THE PERSON TO SETTLE DIFFERENCES (IF YOU'VE BACKBITTEN HIM)
Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever has wronged his brother with regard to his honour or something, let him ask him for forgiveness before the time when there will be neither dinar nor dirham, and if he has any good deeds it will be taken from him in proportion to the wrong he did, and if he does not have any good deeds (hasanaat), some of the other person's evil deeds (sayi’aat) will be taken and given to him to bear.” [Sahih Bukhari (3/129) No. 2449]
Narrated Abu Musa (RA) Allah's Messenger (SAW) said: On the Day of Resurrection, my Ummah (nation) will be gathered into three groups. one sort will enter Paradise without rendering an account (of their deeds). Another sort will be reckoned an easy account and admitted into Paradise. Yet another sort will come bearing on their backs heaps of sins like great mountains. Allah will ask the angels though He knows best about them: Who are these people? They will reply: They are humble slaves of yours. He will say: Unload the sins from them and put the same over the Jews and Christians; then let the humble slaves get into Paradise by virtue of My Mercy. [Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/126) No. 193, Dhahabi mentions that this narration from Haakim is upon the conditions of al-Bukhari and Muslim]
4. YOU BEG ALLAH TO FORGIVE YOU
On the authority of Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq (RA) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: “There is no one who commits a sin then purifies himself well and stands and prays two rak’ahs, then asks Allah for forgiveness, but Allah will forgive him. Then he recited this verse: ‘And those who, when they have committed Fahishah (illegal sexual intercourse) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins; (and none can forgive sins but Allah) and do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know’ [Aal ‘Imraan 3:135].” [Sunan Abu Dawud (2/86) No. 1521]
Truly, Allāh loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves (by taking a bath and cleaning and washing thoroughly their private parts, bodies, for their prayers, etc.). (Al-Baqarah 2:222)
5. THE TIME FRAME - TO MAKE YOUR TAUBA BEFORE THE SUN RISES FROM THE WEST
Abu Musa narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: “Allah spreads out His hand at night to accept the repentance of those who committed sins during the day, and He spreads out His hand during the day to accept the repentance of those who committed sins during the night. (He will continue to do this) until the sun rises from the West.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2113) No. 2759]
On the authority of Abu Huraira the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “The Hour will not begin until the sun rises from the West. When it rises from its place of setting, all people will believe, but on that day ‘no good will it do to a person to believe then, if he believed not before,’ [al-An’aam 6:158].” [al-Bukhari (4635) and Muslim (157)]
Do they then wait for anything other than that the angels should come to them, or that your Lord should come, or that some of the Signs of your Lord should come (i.e. portents of the Hour e.g., arising of the sun from the west)! The day that some of the Signs of your Lord do come, no good will it do to a person to believe then, if he believed not before, nor earned good (by performing deeds of righteousness) through his Faith. Say: "Wait you! we (too) are waiting." (Al-An'am 6:158)
Ibn Umar reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Indeed, Allah accepts repentance of His slave as long as he does not gasp for last breaths.” [Musnad Ahmad (2/132) No. 6160, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/547) No. 3537, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/322) No. 4253, Musnad Abu Ya'la (10/81) No. 5717, Sahih Ibn Hibban (2/394) No. 628, Shu'ab al-Eman al-Bayhaqi (9/281) No. 6661]
WAYS TO REMOVE SINS
1. MAKE SINCERE TAUBA
Except those who repent and believe (in Islāmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allāh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Al-Furqan 25:70)
2. KEEP UP YOUR 5 DAILY PRAYERS
Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The five daily prayers, Friday prayer to the following Friday prayer, and Ramadan to the following Ramadan are expiations for sins as long as one abstains from major sins." [Sahih Muslim (1/209) No. 233 and Musnad Ahmad (2/400) No. 9186]
Abu Huraira said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, ‘What do you think would happen if there was a river by someone's door in which he washed five times every day? Do you think that any dirt would remain on him?’ They said, ‘Not a scrap of dirt would remain on him.’ He said, ‘That is a metaphor of the five prayers by which Allah wipes out wrong actions.’” [al-Bukhari (528) and Muslim (667)]
3. PERFORM WUDU PROPERLY
Humran (the freed slave of Uthman), who said that Uthman ibn Affan (RA) called for water to do wudo’. He washed his hands three times, then he rinsed his mouth and nose, then he washed his face three times, then he washed his right arm up to the elbow three times, then he washed his left arm likewise. Then he wiped his head, then he washed his right foot up to the ankle three times, then he washed his left foot likewise. Then he said, “I saw the Messenger of Allah (SAW) doing wudo’ as I have done it, then the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, ‘Whoever does wudo’ as I have done it, then prays two rak’ahs in which he focuses completely on his prayer, his previous sins will be forgiven.’” [Sahih Muslim (1/204) No. 226, Musnad Ahmad (1/59) No. 418, Sunan Abu Dawud (1/26) No. 106, Sunan al-Nasa'i (1/64) No. 84, Sunan Darimi (1/544) No. 720]
5. TO SIT IN THE MASJID, WAITING FOR SALAH
-the angels beg Allah (swt) to forgive your sins when you do this
Narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The angels send blessings upon one of you so long as he is in his prayer-place where he offered his prayer, so long as he does not break his wudu; they say: ‘O Allah forgive him, O Allah have mercy on him.’” [al-Bukhari (445) and Muslim (649)]
6. TO PERFORM RIGHTEOUS DEEDS
Abu Dharr (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “Fear Allah wherever you are. Follow your evil deed with a pious deed that it may erase it. And meet people in a cheerful manner." [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/355) No. 1987, Musnad Ahmad (5/153) No. 21392, Sunan al-Darime (2/415) No. 2791]
And perform As-Salāt (Iqāmat-as-Salāt), at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory Salāt (prayers)]. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice). (Hud 11:114)
The above verse was revealed when one day a man kissed a woman, a non mahram
-and told the Prophet (saw) about it
A man kissed a woman (who was not his relative or wife). He then came to the Prophet and informed him about the incident. And perform Salah, at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds. (11:114) The man then said, "O Messenger of Allah, is this only for me?'' The Prophet replied, لِجَمِيعِ أُمَّتِي كُلِّهِم This is for all of my (Ummah) followers. Al-Bukhari recorded this narration in the Book of Prayer as well and the Book of Tafsir. [Sahih Bukhari (1/111-112) No. 526]
7. PERFORM HAJJ & UMRAH
Abu Huraira (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said: “From one ‘umrah to another is an expiation for whatever (sins) come between them, and an accepted Hajj brings no less a reward than Paradise.” [Narrated by al-Bukhari (1773) and Muslim (1349)]
Abu Hurayrah (RA) who said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever performs Hajj and does not commit any obscenity [rafath] or commit any evil will go back (free of) sin as on the day his mother bore him.” [narrated by al-Bukhari (1521) and Muslim (1350)]
8. TO SAY 'AMEEN' ALOUD AFTER THE IMAAM RECITES FATIHA
Abu Huraira narrated the Prophet (SAW) said, “When the Imam says ‘Ameen’, then you should all say ‘Ameen’, for the angels say ‘Ameen’ at that time, and he whose ‘Ameen’ coincides with the ‘Ameen’ of the angels, all his past sins will be forgiven.” [al-Bukhari (780) and Muslim (410)]
-the Jews in Madina used to envy the Muslims for the Ameen in the masjid
Many of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) wish that if they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from their ownselves, even, after the truth (that Muhammad Peace be upon him is Allāh's Messenger) has become manifest unto them.. (Al-Baqarah 2:109)
9. TO CALL THE ADHAAN
"The mu'adhdhin will receive forgiveness to the extent to which his voice reaches, and every moist and dry place will testify on his behalf; and he who attends (the congregation of) prayer will have twenty-five prayers recorded for him and will have expiation for sins committed between every two times of prayer." (Abu Dawud)
10. WALKING TOWARDS THE SALAH
-by every step you take, your sins are removed
-note that you're not allowed to 'run'
-walk in a medium pace
-and the angels seek forgiveness for the person walking to the Salah
Narrated Abû Huraira radhiAllâhu `anhu: "Allâh's Apostle said, "The congregational prayer of anyone amongst you is more than twenty (five or twenty seven) times in reward than his prayer in the market or in his house, for if he performs ablution completely and then goes to the mosque with the sole intention of performing the prayer, and nothing urges him to proceed to the mosque except the prayer, then, on every step which he takes towards the mosque, he will be raised one degree or one of his sins will be forgiven. The angels will keep on asking Allâh's forgiveness and blessings for everyone of you so long as he keeps sitting at his praying place. The angels will say, 'O Allâh, bless him! O Allâh, be merciful to him!' as long as he does not do Hadath or a thing which gives trouble to the other." The Prophet further said, "One is regarded in prayer so long as one is waiting for the prayer." [Sahîh Al-Bukhari]
11. TO BE CHARITABLE
-Prophet (saw) said charity wipes out bad deeds the way the fire is wiped out by water
...charity wipes away sin as water extinguishes fire...[Sunan Tirmidhi (5/11) No. 2616, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/116) No. 3973, Musnad Ahmad (5/231) No. 22069]
12. ASK THE PERSON TO FORGIVE YOU (i.e. the person you have wronged)
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Do you know who is the bankrupt?" They said: "The bankrupt among us is one who has neither money with him nor any property." He said, "The real bankrupt of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with Salat, Saum and Sadaqah (charity), (but he will find himself bankrupt on that day as he will have exhausted the good deeds) because he reviled others, brought calumny against others, unlawfully devoured the wealth of others, shed the blood of others and beat others; so his good deeds would be credited to the account of those (who suffered at his hand). If his good deeds fall short to clear the account, their sins would be entered in his account and he would be thrown in the (Hell) Fire." [Sahih Muslim (4/1997) No. 2581]
13. FAST IN RAMADAN, ASHURAH, & ARAFAT
Abu Qatada narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) was asked about fasting the Day of 'Ashura' and said, "It expiates the past year." [Sahih Muslim (2/819) No. 1162 and Musnad Ahmad (5/296) No. 22590]
Abu Qatada reported ...Thereupon he (the Messenger of Allah) said: I wish, I were given strength to observe that. Thereafter he said: The observance of three days' fast every Month and that of Ramadan every year is a perpetual fasting. I seek from Allah that fasting on the day of 'Arafa may atone for the sins of the preceding and the coming years and I seek from Allah that fasting on the day of Ashura may atone for the sins of the preceding year. [Sahih Muslim, Book 6, Hadith #2602]
Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." [Sahih Bukhari (1/16) No. 38]
Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Prophet (SAW) said, "Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven." [al-Bukhari (2014) and Muslim (760)]
14. SEND PEACE AND BLESSINGS UPON THE PROPHET (SAW)
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "He who blesses me once, Allah would bless him ten times." [Sahih Muslim (1/306) No. 408, al-Adab al-Mufrad, al-Bukhari, No. 443, Sunan al-Nasa'i (3/50) No. 1296, Sunan Abu Dawud (2/88) No. 1530, Sunan Tirmidhi (2/355) No. 485, Sunan al-Darime (2/408) No. 2772, Musnad Ahmad (2/372) No. 8841]
"He who sends blessings on me once Allah sends blessings on him ten times and removes from him ten sins and raises him by ten degrees." [al-Nasa'i]
15. TO BE KIND TO ANIMALS
Narrated By Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 54, Hadith #538]
16. TO PRAISE AND THANK ALLAH (swt) AFTER EATING FOOD
"He who has taken food and says at the end: Al-hamdu lillahi-lladhi at 'amani hadha, wa razaqanihi min ghairi haulin minni wa la quwwatin (All praise is due to Allah Who has given me food to eat and provided it without any endeavour on my part or any power) all his past (minor) sins will be forgiven.'' [At-Tirmidhi]
17. TO REMOVE OBSTACLES FROM THE ROAD
Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, "I saw a man going about in the Garden who was there on account of cutting down a tree in the middle of the road which had been a nuisance to the Muslims." [Sahih Muslim (4/2021) No. 1914]
One variant has, "A man passed by a fallen branch in the middle of the road and said, 'By Allah, I will remove this from the path of the Muslims so that it does not inconvenience them' and he was admitted into the Garden."
In a variant of the two, "If a man who is walking along on a road finds a thorny branch in the road and removes it, Allah thanks him for doing it and forgives him."
18. TO LEAVE YOUR GREY HAIR AND NOT PLUCK IT OUT
Amr ibn Shu'aib related from his father from his grandfather that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Do not pluck your white hairs because it’s the light of a Muslim. Anyone who becomes old in Islam, each white hair brings one hasana a good deed and wipes out one bad deed, and raises him to one level with Allah." [Musnad Ahmad (2/210) No. 6962]
19. TO HIDE THE SINS OF YOUR MUSLIM BROTHERS AND SISTERS
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA), that the Prophet (SAW) said: Whoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Resurrection. And whoever alleviates the need of a needy person, Allah will alleviate his needs in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever shields [or hides the misdeeds of] a Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah will aid His slave so long as he aids his brother. And whoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No people gather together in one of the Houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that sakeenah (tranquility) descends upon them, and mercy envelops them, and the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them amongst those who are with Him. And whoever is slowed down by his actions, will not be hastened forward by his lineage. [Sahih Muslim (4/2074) No. 2699, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/195) No. 2945, Sunan Ibn Majah (1/152) No. 225, Musnad Ahmad (2/252) No. 7421]
-there it is Ijmaa among the scholars that when Allah (swt) Hides a sin
-He Forgives that sin
It was reported that Ibn ‘Umar said: I heard the Prophet (SAW) say: “The believer will be brought close to his Lord until He conceals him and makes him confess his sin. Allah will say, ‘Do you remember such and such a sin?’ The man will say, ‘Yes, I admit it.’ The Lord will say, ‘I concealed it for you in the world and I forgive you for it today.’ Then He will close up his record of good deeds. As for the others or the Kuffaar, it will be called out before the witnesses, ‘These are the ones who disbelieved in their Lord. The curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers.’” [al-Bukhari (4685) and Muslim (2768)]
20. TO ADMIT YOUR SINS ON JUDGEMENT DAY IN FRONT OF ALLAH (SWT)
21. TO HAVE SABR (PATIENCE) WHEN YOU ARE STRICKEN WITH A CALAMITY
A’isha (RA), the wife of the Prophet (SAW), said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “There is no calamity that befalls a Muslim but Allah expiates (sin) thereby, even a thorn that pricks him.” [Narrated by al-Bukhari (5640) and Muslim (2572)]
-e.g. a Muslim who broke a body part or had to undergo a painful operation
22. TO LOVE THE QURAN
-during a battle, a man had a special love for Surah Ikhlas
-so he would always recite Ikhlas
-and Allah (swt) forgave him because of his sincere love for the Quran
'Abdullah ibn 'Amr reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW), said: "The fast and the Qur'an are two intercessors for the servant of Allah on the Day of Resurrection. The fast will say: 'O Lord, I prevented him from his food and desires during the day. Let me intercede for him.' The Qur'an will say: 'I prevented him from sleeping at night. Let me intercede for him.' And their intercession will be accepted." [Musnad Ahmad (2/174) No. 6626, Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/740) No. 2036, Shu'ab al-Eman al-Bayhaqi (3/378) No. 1839]
Anas ibn Malik (RA) reported that a man of the Ansar used to lead them in salah at the mosque Quba. When he was about to recite to them any surah in salah (after al-Fatihah), he would begin with Surah al-Ikhlas, and when he had finished with it, he would recite some other surah to them. This, he did in every rakaah. His friends said to him, ‘You recite this surah but do not feel that it is enough till you recite another surah So either recite it or omit it and recite another surah (but not both) He said, “I will not omit it, if you like that I be your imam with that I will do that, but if you dislike it, then I will leave you”. They found him to be the best of them and disliked that anyone else should lead them in salah. So, when the Prophet (SAW) came to them, they informed him of it. He said, “O man! what prevents you from observing what your friends ask you to do? And what brings you to recite this surah in every raka’ah”? He submitted, “O Messenger of Allah (SAW), I love it” Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “Your love for it will indeed admit you to Paradise.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/169) No. 2901, Sahih Bukhari (9/115) No. 7375, Musnad Ahmad (3/141) No. 12455]
23. TO DIE A SHAHEED
Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “There are with Allah six blessings for the martyr.
[1] He is forgiven with the first drop of blood.
[2] He is shown his abode in paradise.
[3] He is preserved from the torment of the grave and is safe from the great fear on the Day of Resurrection.
[4] A crown of honour ingrained with pearl is placed on his head, which is better than the world and what it contains.
[5] He is married to seventy-two maidens (huris) of paradise.
[6] His intercession for his seventy relatives is accepted.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/187-188) No. 1663, Musnad Ahmad (4/131) No. 17221, Sunan Ibn Majah (4/82) No. 2799]
Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud (RA) was asked to explain the verse: Think not of those who were slain in Allah’s way as dead. Nay, they are alive. (3:169) He said, “Indeed we had asked about that and were informed that their souls are in green birds that go wherever they like in Paradise and return to the lamps suspended from the Throne. Your Lord looks at them out of familiarity and asks, ‘Do you desire anything more that I may give more?’ They say, ‘Our Lords what more may we seek while we are in Paradise moving about wherever we will?’ He then looks at them a second time, saying, ‘Do you desire Me to add something for you that I should give more?’ When they see that thay will not be spared (till they ask), they desire, ‘Return our souls to our bodies that we may go back to earth and be slain in Your path once more.." [Muslim 4651, Abu Dawud 2514, Tirmidhi 3022, Ibn e Majah 2800]
Abu Qatadah narrated: Allah’s Messenger (SAW) stood up before us and said to us, “Jihad in Allah’s cause and belief in Allah are the most excellent of deeds.’ A man stood up and said, “ Messenger of Allah!
-if the jihad was fard-al-ayn ALL your sins are forgiven
-if the jihad is fard-al-kifaaya All your sins.. EXCEPT DEBTS are forgiven
QUESTION_1:-
Assalamu alaikum, if one cannot hear the adhaan with the natural voice, is he obligated to attend jumuah or the other prayers?
ANSWER_1:-
-it is compulsory for jumuah
Ibn 'Umar and Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: "We heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) saying (while delivering Khutbah on his wooden pulpit), "Either some people (i.e. hypocrites) stop neglecting the Friday prayers, or Allah will seal their hearts and they will be among the heedless." [Sahih Muslim (2/591) No. 865]
-for 5 prayers only if you can hear the adhaan
Narrated By Al-Ja'd ad-Damri: The Prophet (pbuh) said: He who leaves the Friday prayer (continuously) for three Friday on account of slackness, Allah will print a stamp on his heart. [Abu Dawud, Book 2, Hadith #1047]

"He who has taken food and says at the end: Al-hamdu lillahi-lladhi at 'amani hadha, wa razaqanihi min ghairi haulin minni wa la quwwatin (All praise is due to Allah Who has given me food to eat and provided it without any endeavour on my part or any power) all his past (minor) sins will be forgiven.'' One variant has, "A man passed by a fallen branch in the middle of the road and said, 'By Allah, I will remove this from the path of the Muslims so that it does not inconvenience them' and he was admitted into the Garden."
-e.g. a Muslim who broke a body part or had to undergo a painful operation
22. TO LOVE THE QURAN
-during a battle, a man had a special love for Surah Ikhlas

-if the jihad was fard-al-ayn ALL your sins are forgiven
